Applying incorrect torque is costly – verification is not!
IRTT (Iron Roughneck Torque Tester) is a torque measuring device for any Iron Roughneck that offers an unbiased audit of the unit.
IRTT measures direct torque (not derived or estimated) which removes additional calculations, correlations or guesswork. The IRTT directly measures the make-up torque that is being delivered to joint connections. Measurements captured by the IRTT allow an operator to adjust the Iron Roughneck set point to maximize the accuracy of the make-up torque delivered.
Product Benefits
IRTT ensures that Iron Roughneck is delivering correct make-up torque to drill pipe connection, this prevents several costly and undesirable consequences:
- Prevents dropping strings that cause fishing/non-productive time
According to IADC/SPE-178776-MS research paper
- 1 out of 20 wells experience back-off/twist-off events
- The average cost per event is ~$400,000
- 1 out of 6 Iron Roughnecks apply torque with an error >15%
While we offer IRTT in the three standard configurations shown below, we can customize an IRTT to meet any of your special requirements.
